Rockwall Windshield Repair is pleased to provide the following helpful tip to answer your questions about automobile glass and windshield repair.
Common Causes of Cracked Windshields
You probably already know that a small crack in your windshield can cause huge problems. However, drivers are not always aware of how the crack got there in the first place. The most common way for a crack to develop in a windshield is when it is struck by an object on the road. This could be anything from a tiny pebble to a large boulder. This is bound to happen when millions of cars use the same roads every day.
Extremely cold temperatures are another common reason for windshields to crack. The reason for this is the vast difference between the temperature inside of the car when compared to the temperature the outside window is exposed to. This causes moisture to form, which gets inside of glass and expands. The result is usually a large crack in the windshield.
An error in the manufacturing process is yet another reason that windshields develop cracks. These often form due to a thermal effect that takes place during the window casting process. Cracks are most noticeable approximately three inches from the far ends of the windshield.
Regardless of why your windshield has a crack, you need to have it fixed. Please contact Rockwall Auto Glass Company for help.
