Auto Glass and Windshield Repair Repair Tips

Rockwall Windshield Repair is pleased to provide the following helpful tip to answer your questions about automobile glass and windshield repair.

How to Fix a Car Window that Will Not Roll Up

When one of your car’s side windows gets stuck, you can fix it by following these simple procedures.

Remove your door panel to expose the window mechanism. Most cars have two screws located behind the inside handle. Remove them, and pull up to loosen the pressure rivets that hold the panel on. If your window is manually operated, remove the screw that secures the crank to the mount. You should see access holes for the crank and pulley of the window.

If the glass is off the track, or it is tilted to one side, realign it. If the scissor-jack mechanism fails to operate, you will have to replace the part.

For electric windows, inspect the fuse first. If that is intact, check the wiring for the motor and operating switch. If the wires are undamaged but the motor is broken, replace the motor by removing the wires from the adapter plug, and unbolt the motor.
